Break the silence in pseudo democracy

Break the silence in pseudo democracy                                                                                          “I understand democracy as something that gives the weak the same chance as the strong.”–  Gandhi ji remarked it many times.  In other words, equal say for every community( be it religious , linguistic and ethnic )   irrespective of their numerical strength. But is our nation following gandhian ideas in letter and spirit ?

India became independent after two centuries of exploitative and brutal colonialism...It is time to examine and introspect the path we traveled and the way ahead.

My intention  is to pen down ideas on  LGBT community  : to infuse energy and enthusiasm in them. Also to spread awareness and sensitize the society.

why this community is  neglected ?

1. Because this community is not assertive of their rights. Many prefer to live in closet fearing societal stigma. So they are not the vote bank for political parties to raise their grievances.

2. There is a misconception that homosexuality is a cultural imitation from the west. But homosexuality is sexual variant like male and female.

why LGBT community wants rights ?

 1. Liberty , Equality and fraternity are the values mentioned in the Indian constitution. If a person is restrained from being oneself, it is a gross injustice.

2. Every individual deserves freedom to choose ones life partner and to lead life as per ones interests.

3. Fearing social stigma, many gays are forced to marry girls. It is pushing them to lead dual life with out interest. At times, girl filed cheating case against boy and his entire family.

4.Homosexuals are taxpayers and are also  agents part of the building this nation. Above all they, are citizens of this country. so it is not a question of "sex". It is a question of "identity". They also need equal regard..

5.Police harassment due to section 377 of IPC and also LGBT community is being reported more HIV cases. So it is time to legalize and acknowledge homosexuality.

Same - sex- marriages and homosexuality have been recognized by the majority of the countries barring  few countries in Europe,Africa and south Asia.

Blacks in south Africa fought against racism, women across the world are fighting for their rights. Earlier there was a rampant and malicious caste system. But today these problems becoming mild because they raised their voices. we have to emulate this and make " LGBT movement " as a  "People's Movement"

We as a society ,remained silent so far. Lets " Break this silence", stand with unity  and assert LGBT rights collectively. It is not necessary to be "women " to  fight for  " women rights" Or a person need not be " animal " to fight for " animal rights".

Lets be " Human " to fight for  the  " Human Rights". we are in 21st century...We have to pledge collectively to distribute fruits of " real democracy " to our fellow citizens with inclusive mindset and utmost sensitivity. Lets reverberate their unheard voice ..

                                                                           JAI HIND

                                                                    R.  DILEEP KUMAR
