Building New India
Building " New India"
Majority of Indians celebrated 71st anniversary of independent India fervently.. However it is time to "rejoice as well as "introspect"....
It is time to "rejoice" because, India became politically independent from the yolk of exploitative British colonialism... Also India established robust democracy (peaceful transfer of power) , became world's third largest economy today from the extreme impoverishment.... India also made strides in space technology & information technology.. Also India's stature at the global level relatively changed and also carrying image as a responsible nuclear power.
It is also time to "introspect" because despite of 7decades of political freedom, still millions are in the grip of rampant poverty...And inhuman and derogatory "caste system" is still prevalent & witnessing atrocities every day...Violence and bloodshed through "communal riots" are creating fractures in the society..Around 45% of the children are malnourished...Violence and sexual crimes against women shows, still patriarchal outlook of the society. LGBT rights movements are almost silently suppressed...Fearing social stigma, very less people from LGBT community are coming out and asserting for their due share(Govt's deafening silence on Section 377 of IPC) ...Though we are freed from the British but their regressive section 377 of IPC is still on our statute book...( Now UK even recognizing gay marriages)...
Thus we got political freedom but still there is a long way to achieve "Social freedom" and "economic freedom".
Thus whenever every citizen of this country freed from all the ills...It is obligatory on the govt , " New India" should provide equal opportunities to the poor, women , children and LGBT community to empower themselves....Then only real freedom will be felt and exercised by every citizen of this country...
Apart from government, we citizens have to pledge ourselves to do our part, and act as agents of change....
